SEO Is Dead

This post is one of our SEO Executives, Emma Drury’s entry to the SEO Chicks latest competition

SEO is dead – we’ve all heard that before right? But it’s 2022 and I can guarantee it certainly isn’t. SEO has evolved and has become the lifeblood of the internet. We’ve got time machines and personal space rockets and stuff now hence the reason why I’ve been able to write this back to you all and let you know what’s going to be going on.

Social

Obviously it was a while ago since that Mark Zuckerberg started that there ‘Facebook’ back in 2004 but a few things have changed around here. Social is 100% integrated into SEO, people aren’t interested in mayorships or followers anymore, that was over in 2014. Brands are all about creating tailored unique social media experiences for users. We still have Facebook and twitter yes but they have evolved from what you currently know them to be. Social networks are now brainwave activated with automatic updates. Siri sparked things off for what was possible and we basically don’t type anything, even status updates anymore. In terms of the effect of social on SEO, mentions and links from social media have had an increasing impact on rankings and hence the reason why social media is always at the forefront of campaigns now.

We used these brain power headsets back in 2019 they’ve changed a bit now but I’ll leave it as a surprise to what they look like, they look the business though.

Augmented Reality

>Back in 2011 augmented reality had only just really started to become known about, people placing sofas in their living rooms or deciding if they were Cadbury spots or stripes. Augmented reality has become a massive thing, these days we basically can’t tell where the internet ends and life begins.

Augmented reality is ‘like real life but better’ you can sort of control what happens, the only downside is that its everywhere in 2022, it’s started to get a bit dull.

Augmented Reality – cool eh? You’ll soon get bored of it

SEO as a job title

I once remember Kelvin from state of search talking about this back in 2011 but basically he was almost nearly right. We certainly spend much less time performing onsite optimisation but have taken more of an offsite strategy. We have become more marketeers of websites and therefore we spend more time developing content which we push onto different areas across social and onto apps. As SEO has become more known about as a profession SEO has had to become more skilled and inventive in order to be effective. Therefore link building hasn’t gone away its only got more creative. Infographics what about them I hear you ask? Ha! They are done with they were so 2011 we are all about 3D videographics now.
