We’re exceptionally proud of the news of our ranking of 21st on the Sunday Times Best Companies To Work For 2012 list.
Our previous position was blown out of the water with an astonishing jump of 47 places from our 2010 result of 68th, causing MEC to become the 21st “best place to work”. This made MEC the only media agency to receive the highest accreditation given by the survey: 3 stars. 99.5% of employees agreed that MEC was a great employer, with 88% saying the company made them feel like a valued member of staff, with 84% thinking the company ethos helped encourage them to take risks and make brave decisions.
Along with the congratulatory office-wide champagne breakfasts to celebrate the occasion (and eventual ‘Early Finish Friday’ in honour of the occasions), MEC staff were encouraged to tweet the hashtag #STBestCompanies with some of the reasons why MEC deserved the accolade. The reasons ranged from the charitable (“@MECmanchester raised £15k for ‘Elise for Life’ by baking & trekking on the Great Wall of China!”) to the professional (“MEC takes care of new starters; encouraging me to develop through various training days”). But perhaps the most succinct and all-encompassing statement was the following: “There is no better inspiration than working for people who care about you and your career.”.”
