From the 5th June, the Bauer Media women’s weekly title More! moved away from celebrity stories to focus on content that is more relevant to its readers. The changes are a result of Bauer’s own research on More! readers. Major changes are in the fashion sections where models will now be replaced with real readers. Travel will cover places the readers can afford and will actually want to visit.
MEC Opinion - The Celebrity women’s weekly market fell again in the last ABC’s. Revamping the magazine to produce content to reflect reader’s lives may help to maintain some of its readership. The changes to the travel and fashion sections to include more achievable purchases seems a smart move in the current economy and reflects the fact that people may have to be more realistic with their spending. However a move away from ‘celebrity’ towards ‘real life’ content may deter some advertisers who are looking to place their products around ‘glossier’ content.
