Following the success of previous years and inspired by Mary Berry MEC held their 3rd consecutive bake off and challenged staff and media owner to enter their best bake. There were 7 different categories to enter, sponge cake, savoury bake, no bake, fruit and veg bake, fancy fair cakes, show off bakes and a miscellaneous section. With a category for every type of baker there was no excuses from anyone to not take part. Those who didn’t enter certainly made up for it in helping out with the eating.
We didn’t have much trouble persuading people to be our judges for the event. Jane and Rebecca from the Children’s society and Joe from Brake stepped up to the challenge and even though we prepared them, they struggled to make it through the judging with so many entries. We were delighted to have raised £202 from the afternoon which will be split between our two chosen charities for 2014. Nudging our total up to our £5000 goal.
