We know how fortunate MEC is being named one of the top 100 companies to work for in the UK, so it’s really important for us to be active in giving something back to our communities.
Like last year MEC have chosen two charities to support in 2014 following a round of nominations from individuals in the office.
The charities we have chosen to support are as follow:
The Children’s Society
This is a leading UK children’s charity, however, we’ve chosen to specifically support two projects that are closer to home. Those are the Children’s Rights Service, an independent support and advice service for children and young people in care and the ‘Safe in the City’ project a free and confidential service for the 2,500 young people who run away from home in Manchester each year.
Brake
Every 30 seconds someone somewhere is killed in a road accident. Brake is a charity that supports victims and campaigns to reduce the amount of accidents and make safer streets for everyone.
The MEC team have already made a strong headway into helping reach our £5,000 charity fundraising target and have many events planned to hopefully exceed this amount. One which we are particularly looking forward to, following the success of the event last year, is our second annual Ceilidh.
