Mental health issues will affect 1 in 4 of us during our lifetime.

Mind was one of MEC’s chosen charities. They provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. As an industry this is where we can help!

Through working with Mind we have found the subject of mental health is still highly misunderstood. People are reluctant to talk about the issue because of the reaction they fear from their friends and peers. MEC believe the only way to break this taboo is to produce a campaign to join the dots from gateway symptoms such as stress and anxiety right up to serious mental health issues.

MEC Manchester have planned a powerful, ambitious campaign. Our goal is to change the perception of a whole generation towards mental health issues.

#TakeOffTheTape is our idea. A unifying social media campaign that is inclusive and sharable. A symbolic gesture sits at the heart of the campaign. Ripping off the metaphorical tape over our mouths that prevents us from talking about mental health.

The campaign is designed to spread this powerful visual image to announce, “It’s ok to talk about mental health”.

The aim? Empower more people to talk about mental health, including stress and anxiety which we may not realise effect every single one of us.
