Creative Content Trainee Role

Responsible to: Creative Content Manager
Internal Relationships: Across the whole of the SEO team and other MEC digital teams where appropriate
Salary: up to £17,000
Location: Manchester, UK

Main duties of the role:

  • Trained up to become a link-building specialist across a variety of link-building channels.
  • Responsible for identifying content partnership opportunities, building relationships with bloggers and placing links to client sites on external websites.
  • Creating monthly and weekly link-building reports for internal communications and clients
  • Ensuring all internal link-building documents are updated daily to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Providing support to SEO Managers where needed.
  • Working across a wide range of market leading clients including SpecSavers, Orange, Nintendo, Lloyds Banking Group and Transform cosmetic surgery.

We have some of the brightest minds in the SEO community and as such are looking for some of the brightest graduates to work with us. The ideal candidate will be very quick to pick things up, have an insatiable thirst for knowledge, care about every piece of work they work on and have a high attention to detail. You do not require prior experience in online marketing or SEO but you should have a real thirst to learn about SEO and desire to become one our leading link-building specialists. As a new starter, you will be enrolled in the MEC SEO Academy where you will be trained up in all the basics of on-page and off-page SEO.

Key requirements:

In order to deliver on the above, MEC would require the SEO trainee in link-building to:

  • Proven track record of success.
  • Have a keen eye for detail.
  • Have good time keeping skills.
  • Outgoing and personable.
  • Be confident over the phone.
  • Be comfortable with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Take an interest in current affairs across online marketing.

Desired experience but not required

  • Degree 2:1 or higher.
  • Previous online experience (managing a website or personal blog).
  • Experience in organising.
  • Good at building up relationships and rapport over emails.
  • Have an understanding of online marketing – not only SEO, but other areas of online too.

About SEO at MEC

MEC’s SEO team is one of the largest in the UK, servicing clients such as Lloyds Banking Group, Orange, Homeserve and Paramount Pictures, amongst others. The MEC Interaction team delivers paid, owned and earned media strategies to some of the UK’s largest clients. The Interaction team works across digital disciplines including paid search, display, affiliate marketing and analytics.

Interview Process

The typical interview process involves the review of the CV’s, 1st informal meeting with a member of the SEO team, followed by a second where you may be asked to present about an area of SEO.
