To celebrate MEC’s 10th birthday, the Manchester office pulled out all the stops in giving everyone a chance to get in on the festivities. It would be a day of decennial decadence that would rival the most jovial of jubilees – and one which would require bunting. Lots of bunting. ‘MEC 10’ got off to a fabulous start with breakfast to feed the MEC subjects and prepare them for the regal revelry that was to follow. “Let them eat bacon” was the cry from the Mediator team who had organised the spread, and lo, they did… except those who ate sausage. With their bellies filled and their flagons of tea and coffee drained, it was time to settle in for the company meeting (arranged for 10am of course) and receive the decree of their King and Queen – also known as Mick and Emma. However, this was to be no usual company meeting, such as it would build to a climax of decade-referencing raffles where the luckier subjects went away with trinkets including £10 vouchers, 10 bottles of beer, 10 Krispy Kreme donuts, 10 free lunches at the local café or 10 hours’ worth of holiday time – to name just a few. With the proceeds going to MEC’s charity fund the MEC subjects did rejoice, before heading next door to raise a glass to their 10-year-old empire and share in some celebratory lunch. Of course, it was not long before the populace were back at their place of work, striving to uphold the level of client dedication and innovation that had made their kingdom truly great over the last decade, but not without one last confectionary-based hurrah. At ten minutes to 4pm, it was time for traditional tea and cake courtesy of the ten volunteers whose baking skills provided a selection of decadal delights for the tenth birthday table. It had been a day of revelry and reflection, as well as one of caffeine and carbohydrates. Now, as MEC turns its eyes to the future, the Manchester team hope you’ll join them in looking forward to another ten great years. Thank you.
