With so much festive revelry on the streets of Manchester this year, the MEC team decided to try and bring a little class to their own celebrations. Inspired by US TV series Mad Men, which follows the day-to-day dramas of a slick 1960s ad agency, it was decided that – for one night only – we should step back from our forward-thinking ways and instead look to the past.

The result, as you will see from the deceptively tame photographs below, was a rather glamorous shindig that allowed the ladies to let their hair down and the fellas to slick it back.
